Graduate Entry Assessment:

What is a Graduate Entry (GE) Assessment?:

A GE is an assessment of your coursework and practicum experience against the Accredited Exercise Scientist (AES) Professional Standards and practicum requirements for the purposes of studying an ESSA-accredited postgraduate exercise physiology course.

Meeting the AES Professional Standards and practicum is a pre-requisite to become an AEP. You must meet these requirements BEFORE you graduate from an AEP course.

The GE is not an accreditation. On completion of the assessment, you will be provided with an outcome letter which will outline the elements you have 'Met' or 'Not Yet Met'. This letter can be provided to the university you’re applying to for postgraduate study.

NB. A Graduate Entry assessment outcome is only valid for a period of up to 12 months. You must be enrolled in the postgraduate course prior to the expiration date stated in the outcome letter.

Graduate Entry Pathway:

A GE assessment is available to those who:

  1. Have a bachelor’s degree or higher with relevant exercise and/or sports science subjects*
  2. AND/OR

  3. Are applying to undertake ESSA-accredited postgraduate study within the next 12months to become an Accredited Exercise Physiologist.

*NB Applicants without substantial exercise and/or sport science study can apply for a GE. However, it is likely further study will be needed to meet the AES Professional Standards.

If you have completed an ESSA-accredited exercise science course and/or hold current AES accreditation then you are automatically deemed to have met the exercise science requirements.
