Cold Water Immersion: Friend of Foe? Webinar

Recovery protocols are everywhere on the internet, but how do you know what protocols are going to be effective for your athletes recovering during their competitive season? Cold water immersion is one of the most popular methods of recovery, but every paper you read claims a different protocol is the key to success. The question is what should I, as a practitioner, believe and how do I dig through the mountains of papers for something relevant to my athletes?

This webinar will highlight the benefits of cold-water immersion for recovery, and dig through the literature, providing evidence-based protocols that are easy to implement into any sports or gym setting. Recovery modalities will be compared, and practical recommendations for both female and male athletes will be included so that no athlete is left behind.

Presented by Dr Emma Moore, AES

Emma is a current Exercise Scientist working with both male and female semi-professional athletes at the Woodville West Torrens FC in South Australia, focusing on athlete recovery, nutrition, wellness and body composition. She completed her PhD in 2023, specialising in using cold water immersion for athlete recovery and is passionate about athletes having guidance about what recovery protocol fits their current wellness state, rather than a one size fits all approach. This work is evidenced through 2 publications in Sports Medicine with a third being developed for publication. Emma is also a qualified Level 2 Sports Trainer with WWTFC and believes that the relationships built in the medical room are key to creating athlete buy-in for other high-performance programs.
