This webinar introduces participants to the Sports Tech Quality Framework, developed by the Sports Tech Research Network, and provides a description of how to measure various quality features of sports technology.

Assessing the True Value of Sports Technology Webinar

Identifying and applying tools to effectively and efficiently evaluate technologies is an area of increasing need for sport and exercise scientists. A robust and comprehensive process to evaluate technology would help to reduce negative effects due to adoption of poor-quality technology, such as low return on investment, technology misuse, or data breach.

In 2023, members of the Sports Tech Research Network (STRN) developed the Sports Tech Quality Framework to help address this need. Developed in collaboration with 48 experts from industry, the framework can be used to help design and refine sports technology in order to optimise quality and maintain industry standards, as well as guide purchasing decisions by organizations. It also aimed to create a common language for organizations, manufacturers, investors, and consumers to improve the efficiency of their decision making on sports technology.

This webinar introduces participants to the framework and provides a description of how to measure various quality features of sports technology. It also provides a step-by-step guide to how individuals and organisations can implement the framework in their own workplace and integrate it within existing systems. A number of case studies which have emerged since its release are outlined, along with an insight into preparing for the future and fast-growing landscape of sports technology.
