Kristian Wanka, AES, AEP

Kristian began his journey as an Exercise Physiologist in 2013, after completing his final practicum placement at Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association and falling in love with the place! He was fortunate to gain casual employment at "Wheelies" however the nature of this role meant he was required to supplement his income through other positions. This led him to gain valuable experience working predominantly with older adults, musculoskeletal issues and Neurological conditions in private practice. In 2015, he secured a full-time AEP role at Sporting Wheelies. This is when he really started to hone his skills in the Neurological space in which he had developed a great passion for. He was afforded the opportunity to complete additional training to become an Activity-Based Therapist specialising in treating Neurological conditions. This meant he gained access to a treatment approach and specialised equipment that allowed him to facilitate exercise sessions which effectively targeted functional independence and Neurological recovery through task-specific training and promotion of Neuroplasticity. He spent 2 years from 2016 - 2018 as a strength and conditioning coach for National level Goalball athletes, some of which have since competed at the Paralympics. In 2022, he became a Clinical Team Leader and Practicum Supervisor at Sporting Wheelies, positions which he enjoys and holds to this day.

Alex Casey, AES, AEP

As an avid rugby player, Alex pursued education relevant to his passion. After completing a Diploma in Fitness, he was eager to learn more enrolling in an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science. Through networking and seeking volunteer work Alex found himself switching to Clinical Exercise Physiology. Once graduated, he spent the following 6 years working in a private practice mainly services those with chronic conditions. In recent times, Alex has found himself in a new role in the world of medical devices formerly a career unaware existed whilst studying exercise.

Casey Atkins, AES, AEP

Casey Atkins studied a bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology (honours) at the University of Queensland. Throughout her study she worked multiple jobs within sport, but predominantly as a swim coach and learn to swim teacher. After graduating Casey took a roll at the Sunshine Coast as the assistant coach of the Swimming Australia Paralympic swimming hub. In this role she works everyday as a coach with athletes and within a multidisciplinary support staff, to help the athletes achieve their swimming goals and compete with the best athletes in the world. Casey made her first Australian team coaching appointment last year when she was an Australian team coach at the 2023 World Para Swimming Championships in Manchester, UK. Just a few weeks ago Casey was also announced on the Australian Paralympic team traveling to Paris this year.
